Planet Fitness and CNY Rotarians downstate recently supported the monthly Food Bank of the Southern Tier mobile food pantry in the Town of Maine, held at the NYPenn Pathways Girl Scout facility.
Planet Fitness also provides many of the boxes used for food distribution. The Greater Good Grocery Bus serves the site weekly, expanding access to food resources in Western Broome County.

Endwell and Endicott Rotary partner with numerous community organizations to support food access initiatives. Their efforts align with the work of the Broome County Food Council, a coalition of more than 70 community members focused on improving the local food system. Early council efforts included mapping food providers and assessing community needs, leading to five priority initiatives, including the Western Broome Initiative.

The Food Council later completed a Food System Analysis for Broome and Tioga Counties, shifting attention toward the root causes of food insecurity, including poverty, transportation barriers, and housing challenges. This work incorporates the concept of a "foodshed," which examines how food is produced, distributed, and accessed throughout a region.

Additional progress includes the development of a mobile food pantry at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton, supported by Binghamton Rotary and Binghamton Breakfast Rotary. Rotary clubs throughout Broome and Tioga Counties continue to increase collaboration, recognizing that meaningful progress requires strong partnerships across sectors.

Matthew Stanton, Regional Director of Planet Fitness and a member of Endwell Rotary, has been an active supporter of these community food security efforts.
