CNY Rotarians are lacing up their walking shoes this fall in support of the Alzheimer's Association's Walk to End Alzheimer's, joining together to support families impacted by the disease. The initiative aligns with CNY Rotary President Pamela Baker Gratton's 2026-27 Rotary theme, Brain and Mental Health, encouraging Rotary clubs throughout the district to participate in one of several Walk to End Alzheimer's events taking place across Central New York this fall.

Through the Alzheimer's Association's national partnership with the Alzheimer's/Dementia Rotary Action Group (ADRAG), Rotary clubs across the country are working together to support Alzheimer's research, advocacy and care.

"Brain and mental health affect every family and every community, making this an issue that touches all of us," Pamela explained. "By participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, Rotarians have an opportunity to live our motto of 'Service Above Self' while standing beside those impacted by this disease. I encourage every club in our district to join us as we walk together, raise awareness, and help bring hope to families across Central New York."

Rotary clubs are invited to register as National Partnership Teams using the team naming format "CNY Rotary – (Club Name)" and participate in the walk location most convenient for their members. In addition to supporting an important cause, the walks provide an opportunity to fellowship with fellow Rotarians from neighboring clubs while making a meaningful impact in their communities.

Scheduled walks include:

  • September 26: Binghamton (Mirabito Stadium)
  • October 3: Schenectady (Mohawk Harbor)
  • October 4: Cooperstown (Clark Sports Center)
  • October 17: Utica/Rome (MVCC Utica Campus)
  • October 17: Queensbury (SUNY Adirondack)
  • October 18: Troy (Joseph Bruno Stadium)
  • October 24: Albany (Siena University)
  • October 24: Ithaca/Cortland (Ithaca College)
  • November 8: Syracuse (SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College)

Alzheimer's disease affects millions of individuals and families nationwide, making research, advocacy and community support more important than ever. By participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, Central New York Rotarians are helping raise critical funds while bringing greater awareness to a disease that touches countless lives.

Rotary clubs interested in participating can register their teams through the Alzheimer's Association/ADRAG National Partnership Teams portal. Together, Rotarians across the District will walk in support of a future without Alzheimer's while advancing this year's focus on brain and mental health.
