On Wednesday, September 3rd at 7 PM at Atomic Tom's in Binghamton, the Ukrainian band Kommuna Lux will be performing (see poster below).  The band is in a partnership with the Rotary eClub of Ukraine

Serge Petchenyi, a Rotarian who works at Cornell University and lives in Binghamton is organizing the concert. The band is taking the proceeds from ticket sales to cover their expenses, so it's not being called a "benefit concert." He is asking for donations separate from the ticket prices to support a project called Playground of Hope. This project involves upgrading a playground in Odesa, Ukraine, used by the children of the Special Emergency Rescue Squad in the Odesa region — the same region where Kommuna Lux was formed.

These rescuers have been on the front lines for nearly three years, carrying out search and rescue missions and responding to emergencies. The project, which includes installing new slides, swings, and horizontal bars, is a way to give back to these dedicated rescuers and their families by providing a safe, modern place for their children to play. The total budget for replacing the more than 40-year-old equipment is $9,000.

It's a meaningful way  to support those who have risked so much for their communities — and to help bring joy to their children. For questions, please contact Serge at serge@togetherforukraine.us. To purchase tickets, click here.
