CNY Rotary Learning Committee Chair Deb Glisson (Onondaga North Rotary Club) and Twin Bridges Rotarian Dawn Vavala were recently recognized by their respective New York State legislators for their outstanding service and leadership. Glisson was named Assemblymember Pamela Hunter's Exceptional Woman of the Year, while Vavala was honored by State Senator Jim Tedisco as his 2026 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction.
Both awards recognize women who have made exceptional contributions to their communities. Glisson was recognized for her exceptional leadership and longstanding dedication to volunteer service through Rotary. Vavala was honored for her decades of community involvement, small business leadership, and commitment to Rotary's motto of Service Above Self, including her work supporting the Gift of Life program that provides life-saving surgeries for children from developing countries.
